Colonel (Retired) Joe McDonald entered the Air Force via ROTC in 1988 upon graduation from the University of Mississippi, initially serving as an ICBM missile launch officer. Following his tour in missile operations, he cross-trained into the intelligence career field. As an intelligence officer he served from the squadron to the Service and Joint Staff level, commanded at various levels both stateside and overseas and deployed multiple times to Southwest Asia, Afghanistan and Eastern Europe. He also deployed in support of Joint Task Force-Katrina, that largest humanitarian relief operation in US history. Colonel McDonald retired from active duty 1 June 2017 and is currently a Program Manager with Raytheon Corporation in Dallas, Texas.
