Strong-hearted spouses are behind our Purple Hearts at home.

This spouses-only Warrior Bonfire retreat was designed to provide connection, renewal, and encouragement for those who walk alongside our nation’s combat-wounded veterans every day. Set in the peaceful Colorado Rockies, it’s an opportunity to step away from the responsibilities of caregiving and spend time investing in yourself.

Throughout the week, spouses embraced new adventures with kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, and an in-house watercolor class. There was plenty of laughter, meaningful conversations, and the comfort that comes from being surrounded by others who truly understand the unique journey of supporting a Purple Heart recipient. One of the biggest takeaways from this retreat was the importance of having a safe place to share. Many spouses carry so much on their shoulders without ever talking about it at home. Here, they found the freedom to open up, encourage one another, exchange resources, and leave feeling lighter, refreshed, and recharged.

Surrounded by others who understand the unique challenges and rewards of being a caregiver, this retreat creates space to rest, recharge, and return home refreshed. When caregivers are supported, the whole family is stronger. Our Strong Hearts Spouses retreat in Granby, Colorado, was a beautiful reminder that caregivers need care, too.
