Bonfire #275 in Boston was another incredible weekend with Warrior Bonfire. Friendships were made, a lifelong brotherhood was strengthened, and hearts were healed.

Purple Heart veterans explored historic Boston by Duck Boat, tossed tea into Boston Harbor, and climbed aboard the legendary USS Constitution. They took in America’s pastime from a suite at Fenway Park as the Red Sox faced the Giants, experienced a Native American ceremony in a Mohegan Sweat Lodge with the tribe’s lodge-keeper, picked apples, and headed out on the water to fish Long Island Sound.

But sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones you never could have planned!
During our retreat in Boston, our Purple Heart veterans were unexpectedly invited aboard the historic USS Constitution as she got underway in Boston Harbor for a special demonstration and a historic recognition of the vessel as a Purple Heart Ship, honoring those wounded or killed in service to our country.

This incredible opportunity wasn’t on the original itinerary. It came together spontaneously, thanks to our Bonfire Leader, Denis Oliverio, who helped make sure our group could be part of this extraordinary moment.

Having our Purple Heart veterans aboard the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat, as she was recognized in this way, was an experience none of them will forget. Thank you to the staff and stationed service members of the USS Constitution for this incredible opportunity.

From historic landmarks to timeless traditions, this retreat offered a chance to experience the heart of New England while sharing the adventure with fellow Purple Hearts.
