Stay Open to What’s Possible

Our Purple Hearts headed to the breathtaking mountains of Park City, Utah, for an adventure-filled retreat built around connection, camaraderie, and the opportunity to discover what’s possible.

In partnership with the National Ability Center, our members embraced a variety of adaptive and inclusive activities—from equine-assisted learning and archery to cycling, hiking, pickleball, rock climbing, and challenge courses. Some were familiar. Others were completely new. But each offered an opportunity to step outside their comfort zone, try something different, and rediscover the confidence that comes from challenging yourself.

And sometimes, the most meaningful moments are the quiet ones.

A peaceful day at the National Ability Center’s backcountry yurt gave our Purple Hearts a chance to slow down, breathe in the mountain air, reflect, and simply enjoy the beauty of their surroundings and the company of people who understand.

The retreat also included a special presentation from Task Force Dagger, offering our members insight into how our environment can affect the nervous system and practical ways to support and regulate ourselves. The conversation explored the connections between physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, and sleep—tools that can continue making a difference long after the retreat ends. We’re incredibly grateful to Task Force Dagger for sharing their time, knowledge, and experience with our members.

A heartfelt thank-you also goes to the National Ability Center. Their staff welcomed our Purple Hearts with incredible warmth, enthusiasm, and hospitality, creating an environment where everyone felt supported, encouraged, and free to try something new.

From obstacle courses and rock climbing to archery and bike riding, the retreat was filled with new experiences—and opportunities to rediscover old passions.

Most of all, Utah Adventures offered an important reminder: Stay open to what’s possible.

You never know what you might discover, what you might overcome, or what new possibilities are waiting just beyond your comfort zone.
