Stronger Together: Partnerships that Heal and Prevent Veteran Suicide

At Warrior Bonfire Program, we believe healing for our Purple Heart recipients is most powerful when it’s shared—through community, camaraderie, and strong partnerships. That’s why we work alongside organizations who share our mission: to provide safe spaces for veterans to reconnect, rediscover purpose, and know they are not alone.
Research shows that veterans who feel connected to others are significantly less likely to die by suicide. Every shared laugh on the river, every quiet moment in the mountains, and every story told around the fire reinforces that connection. Together—with our partners, supporters, and community—we are building not just retreats, but lifelines.
This September, as the nation recognizes Suicide Awareness Month, our partnerships take on even greater meaning. Veteran suicide is a crisis that demands action, and together with organizations like the Adaptive Sports Association and the National Ability Center, we are standing united to fight back. By joining forces, we are offering two simultaneous retreats—Bonfire Retreat 236 in Colorado and Bonfire Retreat 237 in Utah—that remind our veterans their lives matter, their service is honored, and their future holds hope.
The Power of Partnership in Healing
When organizations work together, we amplify impact. By pooling expertise, resources, and compassion, we are able to design experiences that help veterans break through isolation, build trust, and rediscover joy. Each retreat is more than just adventure—it’s suicide prevention in action. The friendships formed, the sense of purpose rekindled, and the encouragement shared become lifelines long after the retreat ends.
Bonfire Retreat 236: Rafting Colorado, Durango, CO
In Durango, Colorado, Adaptive Sports Association joins us in delivering a retreat built around the power of teamwork. Whitewater rafting requires trust, communication, and reliance on one another—skills that mirror the bonds forged in military service. On the water, participants learn that no rapid is faced alone, and that message continues by the fire at night, where stories are shared and healing begins.
Bonfire Retreat 237: Utah NAC Adventures, Park City, UT
At the same time in Park City, Utah, our partnership with National Ability Center creates an opportunity for veterans to work as a unit to conquer the challenge course, push over the mountain on bikes, find peace on the water, and utilize breathing techniques through archery and equine therapy. Guided through these activities, participants are reminded of their strength and resilience, while moments of quiet reflection offer space for hope to take root. NAC’s expertise ensures every veteran feels supported, welcomed, and part of a greater whole.
Why This Matters Now
Every partnership is a stand against veteran suicide. Every retreat is a reminder that life is worth living. And every veteran who leaves with new friends and renewed purpose carries forward the message that no one is ever truly alone.
A Call to Collaborate
Our fight against veteran suicide depends on collective action. These retreats are proof of what’s possible when organizations, communities, and supporters lock arms to serve those who’ve sacrificed for us. There are an overwhelming number of organizations doing incredible work and coming together stretches the precious funds that our donors have given. If your organization would like to partner with us—through hosting, sponsoring, or volunteering—you’ll be helping us save lives and honor service in the most meaningful way.
