Some Fun for the Spouses

August 8, 2014
Recently, four lucky ladies enjoyed a weekend on Eagle Lake with some superb dining provided by our very own chef, Larry Ables, a sunset boat cruise, tours of antebellum homes Anchuca and Duff Green in Vicksburg, an art class with Lisa Grant, lunches at Cafe Anchuca and the famous Walnut Hills round table, shopping at local outlets, and of course a bonfire with an official American flag retirement ceremony. Jennifer Deming, participant of the Spouses Weekend stated, “The Bonfire was amazing, I really enjoy being with ladies that are or have gone through the same things as I am. Lets me know I’m not alone.”
As with all Warrior Bonfire Project excursions, plenty of time is made for rest and relaxation which encourages the creation of new friendships and support. Again, this time is not only for the spouses to connect but shows them the importance of the same experience for their husbands or wives that have served. Giovanna Williams, wife of one of our WBP Inspiration Warriors and Spouses Weekend participant, when we asked what do you see as an important need for combat wounded veterans, she stated, “Being able to relax and connect with their own feelings as well as being able to support each other and allow them to know they are not alone.”
Helps us to help them not to feel alone!
